5 benefits that will change your mind about garlic

Historically, garlic has never had a good role. Every time you cut, the trouble begins: who hasn’t had horse-like breath after eating it? Let’s also not forget the popular belief that associates them with vampires! What we know less, however, is that garlic has quite miraculous properties on our health. What are its benefits ?

1.Lower cholesterol levels:

A multitude of studies published in 2012 confirm the effects of garlic on cholesterol . Doctors had taken two groups of test subjects, one ingesting garlic, the other a placebo. As a result, garlic lowered the total cholesterol level in the body and the triglyceride (lipid) level. In studies, garlic has been shown to be effective when consumed between 3g and 10g daily for 2-4 months.

2. Decreased cancer risk

Thanks to its high content of sulphurous elements, garlic is able to limit the number and multiplication of cancerous cells. Again, a study in the 90s showed a 30% reduction in the risk of colorectal cancer . It would also be useful to prevent cancer of the throat, intestine and stomach.

3. Garlic is an antioxidant

In addition to being rich in vitamin A, B, Ce D and E, calcium and potassium, garlic has antioxidants. Through this, it would slow down the aging process, stress , and neurodegenerative diseases.

4. For diarrhea, consider garlic!

Garlic has antimicrobial properties. Consuming garlic helps fight a bacterium called Campylobacter jejuni , which causes diarrhea. When garlic is crushed, a chemical compound, diallyl disulfide, is expelled. It helps fight bacteria. Once in the body, the substances contained in the garlic will tend to purge our digestive system. Other natural treatments exist to treat diarrhea.

5. An antihypertensive

Last point, garlic is very useful against high blood pressure. In the same way, garlic thins our blood. This prevents blood clots from forming in the arteries.

To obtain all these effects, we need to consume an average of 18 g of garlic per week (which is more or less equivalent to 6 cloves).

However, the enzyme most responsible for all the benefits of garlic is no longer as effective as the temperature increases… Which basically means that it is better to eat raw garlic  ! That’s not going to make us sexier…
